Product Configurators
A next-gen product configurator is a real-time 3D tool that lets customers customise a product's materials, colours, engravings, and finishes, then see photoreal changes instantly. The New Face builds these in Unreal Engine 5 and streams them to any browser.
How it works
Photoreal 3D asset build
We rebuild each SKU as a real-time asset with accurate geometry and physically based materials, so leather grain, metal, and gemstones respond correctly to light in Unreal Engine 5.
Live configuration logic
Every option, from colourway to material, monogram, and component swap, is wired to the 3D model, so each selection updates the render in real time, with no page reload or pre-baked image set.
Cloud streaming to any device
The configurator runs on GPU servers and streams as video via NVIDIA GDN, so shoppers get console-grade fidelity on a phone or laptop with no downloads and no heavy local hardware.
Embed and handoff
We embed the configurator in your existing product page or campaign site and expose the chosen configuration for add-to-cart, sharing, or made-to-order fulfilment.
FAQ
What is a real-time 3D product configurator?
A real-time 3D product configurator is an interactive tool that lets a customer change a product's materials, colours, and components and see photoreal updates instantly. Unlike a gallery of fixed images, it renders every combination live in 3D, so any configuration looks correct without pre-producing each variant.
How long does it take to build a product configurator?
A single-product configurator typically takes 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the number of options and materials. Most of the effort is building the photoreal 3D asset and wiring each customisation choice; adding more SKUs or finishes extends the timeline modestly rather than multiplying it.
How much does a 3D product configurator cost?
Most configurators fall in the €25,000 to €60,000 range at The New Face, driven by asset complexity and the number of configurable options. A single hero product with a few finishes sits at the lower end; multi-product ranges with material swaps and engraving sit higher.
Does it integrate with our existing e-commerce site?
Yes. The configurator embeds in your current product page or campaign site as an iframe or web component, and passes the selected configuration back to your platform for add-to-cart, wishlist, or made-to-order flows. It works alongside Shopify, Salesforce Commerce, or a custom stack.
Will it run on mobile without slowing the site?
Yes. Because the configurator renders on cloud GPUs and streams to the browser as video via NVIDIA GDN, the customer's phone only plays a stream rather than downloading or rendering the 3D scene. Page load stays light and fidelity is identical across devices.
What is the difference between a configurator and a 360° product spin?
A 360° spin shows one fixed product rotating through pre-shot frames. A configurator renders the product live, so customers can change materials, colours, and parts and see any combination in real time. The spin is a fixed asset; the configurator is a responsive 3D scene.
